This late 19th-century Waterbury "No. 18 Regulator" wall clock case is constructed in oak and features their antique oak finish. Its deep caramel color creates a warm atmosphere. This model was originally offered in three wood options: antique oak (as this one is), walnut, or cherry. The case has a peaked pediment centering a turned wooden finial. The lower bracket has a scalloped backdrop and turned wooden buttons on the front corners. The front of the case serves as a door. The reeded frame holds a large single piece of glass, ideal for advertising your business or fine cooking.

The painted metal dial is framed in a brass bezel. The dial is designed with a segmented minute ring, Roman-style hour numerals, a subsidiary seconds dial, and the Clockmaker's Company trademark. Open moon hands display the time.

The 8-day double-weight-driven time-only movement has solid tapered plates, Deadbeat escapement, adjustable verge, and retaining power. The front plate is die-stamped with the Waterbury name and “24 3/8.” A wooden rod supports the brass-faced pendulum bob, which swings in front of a porcelain Waterbury Company swing scale. The movement is mounted on a cast bracket painted gold.

This wall clock case measures approximately 51 inches long. At the top of the case is a molding measuring 19.5 inches wide, with a maximum depth of 6.5 inches. This regulator is pictured in the Waterbury clock catalogs circa 1893. In this format, it originally sold for $20.
