A French-made elaborately decorated mantel clock with brass mounts. EEE-51.

This French-made mahogany-cased shelf clock is profusely decorated with intricate brass castings. All of these have been brought up to a high finish and contrast nicely with the brown tones of the wooden case. This case presentation was designed to impress those who favor the French ornate style. It is interesting to note that the case decorations are fitted to a variety of the case's shaped surfaces. The elaborately designed pierced side panels and the back door are backed in red silk. The circular-shaped bezel opens to access the dial.

The gilt-finished dial is framed in a decorative sash. The dial bezel is fitted with beveled-edge glass. Arabic-style hour numerals are painted onto the circular-shaped brass dial. Each hour has its cartouche. A delicately pierced casting decorates the center field. The hands are blue steel and are well-formed.

The movement is complete and sound. The brass plates are rectangular in shape. The works are spring-powered and designed to run for eight days once fully wound. The pendulum hangs inside the case from the back of the movement.

This clock measures 18 inches in length, 11 inches in width, and 8.75 inches in depth.

This clock was made circa 1890.
