An English-made Time & Strike Skeleton Clock. 225064.

This finely crafted English skeleton clock is standard size. With the dome in place, it stands about 17 inches tall, 13 inches wide at the base, and 7.75 inches deep. The ebonized wooden base rests on four turned feet, and the original glass dome fits perfectly onto the oval platform. The dome protects the clock from dust. The clock's frames are mounted on the wooden platform, topped with rich red cloth.

The movement frames are expertly fretted or skeletonized. Removing excess brass reveals the inner workings between the plates. Six-shaped brass pots support the frames. Hardened steel shafts hold the recoil escapement, polished pinions, brass gears, fusee cones, and coil power springs. The steel springs are encased in brass canisters. This clock has a two-train movement with a full-strike mechanism. It strikes every hour on both a coil gong behind the movement and a bell above the mechanism. Both strike hammers share the same shaft and operate together. The pendulum, fitted with a round bob, is mounted at the back of the works.

The brass dial features a silvered finish. Black graphics, a closed minute ring, and Roman numerals are elegantly painted on the silvered surface. Open steel moon hands indicate the time.

The glass dome is original to the clock and dates from the same period, adding significant character and authenticity.

This clock was crafted circa 1865. It has been recently cleaned and serviced and runs in excellent condition.
