Roth Brothers, New York. Chronometer.
Two-day display chronometer, with engraved brass dial that is silvered and signed, "Roth Brothers New York." The presentation of this chronometer is unusual in that it is in an upright format. The visual presentation is very appealing. The circular case is brass and has been lacquered. It is mounted to a wooden platform. The case is fitted with two removable bezels that are fitted with beveled glass. The front bezel protects the seven inch silvered dial and engraved dial that is signed, "Roth Brothers, Chronometer Manufacturers, New York." The independent minutes are formatted in Arabic numerals and are located around the perimeter. The subsidiary seconds are displayed at the twelve o’clock position. The hours are displayed just below. The back bezel is fitted with clear glass so that one can view the brass constructed movement and balance wheel. The movement is designed to run two-days on a full winding. The springs transfer their power via a chain drive through a fusee cone. The escapement features a helical hairspring balance, detent chronometer, that is a two-arm bi-metallic balance. This movement is also fitted with maintaining power. Overall height is approximately 11 inches.
